FAQs for New Students
How do I start taking classes?
As a 3 for $33 student, you are a “drop in,” which means that you do not need to register or reserve space in advance. Space for drop-in students is first come, first served. We recommend that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of class to sign in at the front desk. For classes on our schedule that are marked “FULL,” we typically have a few spaces open for drop-ins each week–just arrive early.
After completing the 3 for $33 offer, students can choose to register for the remainder of the session (with prorated fees) or continue to come as a drop-in. Registered students can make-up missed classes in any class appropriate to their level on the schedule during the same session.
New students are welcome to join classes in the middle of the session; you do not need to wait for the beginning of the next session.
What if I’m brand new to yoga?
Most new students begin with the Yoga Level 1 classes on our schedule. For students who prefer a slower-paced practice or have physical limitations that make a Level 1 practice difficult, we offer Gentle Yoga and Super Gentle Yoga.
Do I need to bring a mat?
Our studios are stocked with Manduka Pro-lite mats, which students can use with no rental fee. We also offer mat cleaner and cleaning cloths in each studio. You’re welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer.
What do I wear?
No need for special yoga clothes. Just wear comfortable clothes that you can move and stretch in. Jeans are not comfortable for practice. Also note that you’ll want to be barefoot for practice so you won’t slip on your mat.
More Students Tips
- Remove your shoes before entering a studio. Ladies, please leave your shoes and bulky items like winter coats in the women’s dressing room, located on the first floor, in the shop area. Men, please leave shoes in the men’s dressing room on the second floor. Please take your valuables into the studio.
- Turn off your cell phone. If you need to bring your cell phone into the studio, please be sure that the ringer and any other audible notifications are turned off.
- Tell your teacher about injuries or medical conditions. This helps the teacher know how to assist you and give you modifications.
If you still have questions, don’t hesitate to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll get back to you within 1 business day. You can also call the studio at 202-686-1104.
