Prenatal Yoga classes at Circle Yoga offer moms-to-be the opportunity to relax, build strength and flexibility, and feel more comfortable in their changing bodies. Prenatal yoga can help to ease some of the discomforts of pregnancy, including back pain, sciatica, constipation, and swelling. It also provides expectant mothers with tools that can help them prepare for the challenges of childbirth and postpartum recovery—including breathing practices, relaxation techniques, pelvic floor toning, and mind/body awareness.
Whether a student is planning to deliver at a hospital, in a birthing center, or at home, our classes will help her feel more confident and prepared to give birth in a way that feels most comfortable for her. Our warm and supportive community also allows students to connect with each other. During class and through online forums, students exchange ideas and resources and share their experiences of pregnancy. Many of our moms reconnect in Baby & Me classes after their babies arrive.
Prenatal Yoga classes at Circle Yoga are mixed-level and open to all pregnant women, including yoga beginners. Many women begin yoga for the first time when they’re pregnant. Some expectant mothers begin coming to classes in the early weeks of pregnancy, while others may wait until they’re feeling better in the second trimester. You’re welcome to join us as soon as you’re ready.
Students are welcome to register for a class at any point during a session in progress, space permitting. If a student’s due date falls within the current session, we’re happy to prorate registration fees based on the due date.* If you miss classes as a registered student, remember that you can make up in one of our other prenatal classes or other classes appropriate to your level (discuss appropriate options with your instructor). Household family members can also make up your missed classes in Circle Yoga or Budding Yogis classes, space permitting. And we always welcome drop-ins, space permitting.
If you have any questions about Prenatal Yoga classes at Circle Yoga, please email Anne Kennedy at annek@circleyoga.com.
* Pregnant students registering for partial sessions ending before the official end of the session are required to register for at least half of the session (e.g., at least 6 classes out of a 12-week session). Also, these classes and any make-up classes must be used by the end date of the partial session. In other words, if a student registers for the first six weeks of a session, all six classes need to be used within those six consecutive weeks.
