The foam roller is a safe and effective tool designed to release muscle tension. A regular foam roller practice improves flexibility and range of motion and reduces the risk of injury. It is also a great practice to help alleviate post-workout soreness. In this mini series, we will have plenty of time to practice using the foam roller as well as tennis balls. Well work deeply into the muscles, identifying problem areas and focusing on releasing tension. In a progressive series of exercises, we will move through the upper and lower extremities, the spine, and the hips. All students must bring their own round, 36-inch-long foam roller. These can be purchased at Circle Yoga, a sporting goods store, or online. Please wear comfortable clothing appropriate for a movement class. Students should be able to get down to and up from the floor with relative ease, and should be able to sit comfortably on the floor. This practice is not appropriate for students with osteoporosis.
