50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training
with Yael Flusberg
2022 Training Weekends:
Nov 18-20, Dec 9-11, and Jan 20-22
About the training
If you’re a yoga teacher wishing to enhance your teaching or personal practice by touching upon deeper (t)issues rarely worked in more dynamic styles, consider joining Yael Flusberg's 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training. By the end of this training, you will feel confident facilitating Yin sessions with a wide range of students in a way that is anatomy-informed, trauma-aware and compassionate. You will be able to sequence Yin classes using principles of both physical and energetic anatomy, and understand how to create and hold space for students to be in touch with their psychological and spiritual motivations.

By the end of this training, you will feel confident facilitating Yin sessions with a wide range of students in a way that is anatomy-informed, trauma-aware and compassionate.
We’ll begin our training with the more external aspects of Yin Yoga: the shapes that focus on the parts of our bodies thickest with connective tissue, how to create a safe and positive biomechanical stress on the deep layers of fascia to gently accentuate pliability of our joints within our natural range of motion. You will learn why physical alignment is less important in this practice than the animating force behind the poses, which draw us deeper into the inner dimensions of our experience.
Once we’re more comfortable with the stillness that characterizes Yin Yoga, we can dive into the energetic understanding of how this practice spotlights paths and points along the luminous body. In doing so, and combined with technologies such as breath, mudra, visualizations, mantras and meditations, we can learn how to increase the amount of chi (life force) in the system, or melt stagnations, or allow chi to be better absorbed by the mind-body complex.

Finally, as we continue to be drawn inward, we’ll explore Western and yogic understanding around how to alleviate suffering and cultivate resilience. We will learn how attention, accompaniment, agency and compassion can help ourselves and our students tune into hidden and dormant parts of ourselves that can be activated as a catalyst for growth and transformation. Like all else Yin, this is a slow and openhearted process that takes discipline and cannot be rushed.
Each day of training will include a led Yin practice, as well as lecture, discussion, and experiential work in dyads/triads.
The Yin Yoga Teacher Training includes 48 hours of in-person training with Yael Flusberg, reading and homework assignments, a workbook, and a certificate of completion. RYTs who complete the course are eligible to apply for CEUs with Yoga Alliance.
About Yael
Yael loves delving deeply into what heals us, what helps build our resiliency, and what allows us to be courageous and active agents in our communities. To that end, she began practicing yoga 25+ years ago while doing organizing with immigrant communities, and became a teacher in 2006 as a way to bring healing to those on the front lines of creating a more just world. She soon fell in love with Yin Yoga, studying with Paul Grilley, credited with creating Yin Yoga and an expert in functional anatomy; Sarah Powers, who popularized Yin Yoga by integrating it with both mindfulness and Taoist meridians; and Biff Mithoefer, who incorporates storytelling and shamanic teachings into his teachings.

As a yoga therapist and seasoned facilitator, coach and energy worker, Yael offers group and one-on-one sessions in clinical, educational, community and faith-based settings. She serves as core and guest faculty of several 200 hour and advanced yoga teacher trainings and is a voracious reader and life-long learner, most recently doing cadaver dissections with Gil Hedley and a yearlong program with Dr. Gabor Mate in Compassionate Inquiry.
