Balance and Stability
via Zoom

with Mercedes Santos

Sunday, Oct 11, 12:00-3:30pm

Join Mercedes to learn how to help your yoga students (or yourself!) with balance, agility and stability, which become especially important for older yogis as we move into a time of life when the risk of falling increases.

The ability to sustain balance and stability is a complex interplay of internal and external variables. We’ll learn about these variables, how yoga already helps with many of them, and how you can be more deliberate about weaving all of the variables into your practicing and teaching.

Through the use of lecture, discussion and practice, this workshop will include:

- Review of the material covered in session I of this workshop

- Practices related to specific aspects of balancing:

    • Postural practice for stability
    • Static and dynamic balancing
    • Agility
    • Novelty in balancing practice
    • Mental focus and stability
    • Neuromuscular strength training for balance and coordination
    • Confidence as a confluence of agility, strength and stability

The content of this workshop is designed for teachers, but dedicated students are also welcome. You don’t need to have attended Part I of Balance and Stability in the spring to benefit from Part II.
