Anne Kennedy

A little more than ten years ago, Anne called her mom to report that she was leaving her desk job to train as a yoga teacher. There was dead silence and a lot of worry on the other end. Today, Anne has a job that she never could have dreamed up. As a teacher, she loves helping her students feel stronger, more flexible, and more at ease in their bodies and in their lives. As the Executive Director at Circle Yoga, she gets to spend her work hours at a mission-driven business, where she is barefoot most of the time. And each day, she gets to work side by side with a talented and committed group of teachers and staff.

Anne is a certified Kripalu Yoga instructor and is registered with the Yoga Alliance, E-RYT200 and RPYT. She is certified to teach prenatal and postnatal yoga. Most recently, her teaching and personal practice have been influenced by Doug Keller, Elena Brower, Rod Stryker, and--most importantly--her sweet kids, Sylvie and Evan.

What to expect in class:
Anne's classes focus on developing mindful awareness through attention to breath, healthy alignment, and a slow flow of postures. Her regular students enjoy the fact that Anne's classes are physically challenging. She reminds students to respect their limits, offers plenty of modifications, and encourages a generous use of props. Anne often uses background music in classes and shares her favorite readings on mindfulness, yoga, and navigating the human condition.
