Instructor

Joey Gottlieb

The son of two diplomats, Joey's first experience with yoga was as a depressed teenager nursing two sports injuries. He began studying yoga right here at Circle Yoga, discovering new dimensions within his body, mind, and spirit. After several years of practice, Joey took his first teacher training in vinyasa yoga with Ellen De Jonge. In 2014, he met Master Teacher Amy Ippoliti, and began apprenticing with her in alignment-based vinyasa yoga, therapeutic yoga, and the life-affirming philosophies of Tantra yoga. He continues to study and travel with her while teaching yoga and developing health, empowerment, and a sense of joyful curiosity in navigating the complex world around us. Joey is also a licensed massage therapist.

What to expect in class
Joey is known for his unique ability to energize students and to “bring yoga to life in new ways.” Classes often begin with a philosophical contemplation as an invitation for students to bring added depth to their practice. Mindful warm-ups and precise alignment instructions prepare students to find the most enjoyment and freedom possible within more advanced asanas. Students then gently transition into deep relaxation with cooling poses and pranayama.
