Yael Flusberg

Yael Flusberg was fortunate to find yoga in her mid-20s in the midst of a crisis of faith and identity. Her first teacher was a physically petite and spiritually grand octogenarian named Ruby Blue. Ruby inspired within Yael a belief that yoga can be a lifelong practice -- with sustained effort and regular recalibration. Because of her experiments in using yoga to heal herself, she is especially interested in the therapeutic applications of yoga practices and philosophy, particularly with folks dealing with stress and trauma. An integrative yoga therapist with more than 1,000 hours of training, Yael has taught yoga since 2005 at area hospitals, hospices, libraries, workplaces, schools, community gardens, and yoga studios. Her creative, improvisational, and irreverent yoga classes draw upon her background as a Reiki Master Teacher, Board-Certified Polarity Therapist, leadership coach, organizational facilitator, and poet. What to expect in class
Because each one of us is affected by a mix of genetic, lifestyle, cultural, and environmental conditions, there's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all yoga practice. Yael's classes aim to integrate a range of yogic techniques to help you continually explore how to come into balance, physically, energetically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. If you choose (and it's all about freedom of choice) you will play with inversions, backbends, and arm balances, as well as plenty of core strengthening and balance postures. Modifications, props and opting out of anything that doesn't feel right to you are all strongly encouraged, as is a disposition of curiosity.
