Myofascial Release is a safe, gentle, and effective practice that can be used to release muscular tension, prevent injury, and increase range of motion. A regular practice of Myofascial Release can also improve blood and lymphatic circulation and aid in the prevention of lower back pain. In this interactive workshop, you will learn how to use a foam roller* and tennis balls to apply gentle, sustained pressure to your body's connective tissues. You will practice mobilization techniques for the upper and lower extremities and the thoracic and lumbar spine--techniques that you can take with you and practice any time, on your own. Please wear comfortable clothing appropriate for a movement class. This workshop is not intended for Super Gentle students nor for students with osteoporosis.
* All students must bring their own full round, 31" or 36" long foam roller, which can be purchased at Circle Yoga, a sporting goods store, or online. The length of the roller is important - its necessary in order to fully participate in all the exercises.
