Harnessing Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times
Sat May 12
Ayurveda, a 5000-year-old science of healing and rejuvenation, and sister science to yoga, recommends cleansing during spring to restore balance to the body and mind. The winter cold can leave one feeling sluggish, achy, less motivated, lacking clarity, and emotionally out of balance. This workshop offers a 7-10 day gentle cleanse program of easy to digest and nourishing food, self-massage, and supportive lifestyle recommendations. Detox your body, and bring a bounce back to your step and lightness to the spirit!
This workshop will be offered in two parts. Students may choose to register for Part 1 only. Part 1 is a prerequisite for Part 2.
Part 1: This two-hour session is designed to identify your Ayurvedic constitution, introduce Ayurveda organizing principles, and provide in-depth instructions for the cleanse supported by a 20-page handout.
Part 2: This one-hour practicum is designed to ensure your confidence to carry out the spring cleanse easily in your home and kitchen. The practicum includes:
- Ayurvedic self-massage demonstration
- Cooking demo and tastings for Khichari, Ayurvedic cleansing teas and chutney
- Demo on use of neti pot and tongue scraping
- Cleanse Starter Kit: one-week supply including split mung dal, basmati rice, organic ghee, spice kit, and herbs
The practicum will take place at a residential location with a kitchen. Following Part 1 of the workshop, the group will take a short, 10-minute walk from Circle Yoga to the off-site location for Part 2.
