Teaching Yoga to Kids
Are you interested in sharing the benefits of yoga and mindfulness with kids? Or do you think your child might benefit from learning to relax through the non-competitive practice of yoga? The 20-hour Budding Yogis Teacher Training is designed for school teachers, parents, yoga teachers, therapists, or anyone interested in learning how to enrich children's lives with yoga and mindfulness practices. Join us in person at the studio or participate virtually!
About the training
As one of the first children's yoga programs in the country, Budding Yogis has certified hundreds of kids yoga teachers over the last 17 years. Our trainees include teachers, librarians, therapists, day care workers, yoga teachers, and parents who are sharing yoga and mindfulness in their professional and home settings. Lead Trainer Linda Feldman has been training teachers through Budding Yogis since the program's beginning.
The Budding Yogis Teacher Training is based on our unique philosophy of teaching yoga and mindfulness to kids in a way that stretches their imaginations, offers them non-competitive opportunities to play, and teaches them how to relax. What makes Budding Yogis special is our emphasis on mindfulness and the ways in which it can be incorporated into children's yoga and their everyday lives.
Over the course of the 20-hour training weekend, participants learn how to teach yoga classes for kids ages 2-12 with age-appropriate yoga poses and activities, how to create theme-based yoga classes, and how to use self-calming, meditation, and mindfulness techniques to help kids relax their bodies and minds.
At the end of the training, trainees will have the opportunity to practice teach the group and will be prepared to start their teaching journey. Each trainee will receive a Budding Yogis certificate if all sessions are attended, in person or on Zoom, and the practice teaching is completed.

I learned so much from the training that I was able to use in my homeroom classroom with my pre-K children. I now work full time as a children’s yoga instructor at an inner city charter school in DC. Teaching children’s yoga is the best job a person could have.

What was most helpful about the Budding Yogis’ training was learning specifically what to do with different age groups, and having the opportunity to teach and observe live kids! I would highly recommend this training to anyone who wants to bring children and families the gift of yoga.
Budding Yogis’ training gave me the confidence to allow my potential to shine. Linda presents an approach that is joyful and loving, creative yet organized. I now teach my own kids yoga classes from ages 5-13 and have so much fun. The kids keep coming back and I never forget what an inspiration the Budding Yogis training has been to me.

I learned a ton about teaching mindfulness to children and now incorporate songs, discussion, games, and listening activities daily into my second grade classroom. The response in the community has been huge. Children, co-workers, and parents are very open to the idea of mindfulness and how to incorporate it into their lives! The yoga classes I teach have also benefited a great deal, as I learned more about developing child-centered yoga classes and leading savasana for young children.

What’s special about the Budding Yogis Teacher Training is that it brings out the soul of yoga, going beyond the physical poses and yoga games. It helps bring out the special quality of mindfulness, of slowing down, going inward, being aware of our feelings, our unique qualities, our connection and respect for ourselves and each other with the kids we engage in our classes. Beyond that it has empowered me to jump in and schedule family yoga workshops, which have turned out to be a blast.
If you need to cancel your registration for the Budding Yogis Teacher Training, please do so at least one week before the training, and your fee will be refunded minus a 20% administrative fee. Sorry, no refunds will be given for cancellations made within less than one week of the workshop.
